(NIGERIA) – A discrepancy has emerged in the recent statements made by the Nigerian government and an official from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding the status of the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travelers.
While Presidential spokesman Chief Ajuri Ngelale announced that the ban had been lifted following President Bola Tinubu’s meeting with UAE counterpart Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a UAE official, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that there have been no changes in the travel status between the two nations.
Speculation surrounds UAE’s visa ban
The conflicting statements have fueled speculation, with United Arab Emirates [UAE] authorities remaining silent on the matter in their official statement.
Questions have arisen regarding the resumption of flights by Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines into and out of Nigeria, as mentioned by Ngelale.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo indicated that the timeline for these developments remains uncertain, emphasizing the need to work out finer details before implementation.
