During a live broadcast of the popular daily Business Nigeria program on TVC News on Thursday September 14th, 2023 anchored by Tolulope Ogunjobi, the business editor, there was a major commotion that played out between the anchorman and some inside IT personnel which resulted in some hot argument live on air.
There was apparently a sound glitch when the presenter, Tolu attempted to start the live session with an interview with the invited guest who joined via zoom. The guest and the presenter couldn’t hear each other and Tolu had to publicly rebuke the IT team of the constant sabotage of his business program.
At a point during the disagreement which was a monologue by the Presenter, he turned into Yoruba vernacular and accused the IT department of always frustrating his program, appealing to them to put a call through to Abuja to resolve the sound glitch crisis.
The entire episode was inadvertently aired live as ongoing disagreement with the IT personnel that should have been resolved behind the scenes became a public show of shame. Instead, they chose to showcase it to a global audience, leaving thousands of viewers eagerly waiting for the interview program in disbelief.
This incident has sparked a range of diverse comments on social media, leaving viewers questioning the professionalism of TVC as a media platform and especially why the presenter couldn’t restrain himself from expressing his emotion and annoyance on air, and whether there are any modicum of standards in place.
